Sandra Familet

Partner & COO, Hutt Capital

My name is Sandra Familet, and I am Partner & COO at Hutt Capital. My career spans over two decades, including working with top private equity and venture managers. Early in my journey, I played a pivotal role in the rapid growth of BlackRock, from its origins under the Blackstone name to its IPO. I am proud to have been one of the first female executives on the equity, fixed income, commodity, and forex trading floors at leading investment banks such as Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs.

This diverse background provided the perfect foundation for me to found a market intelligence firm and build my own family office over the past decade. Today, I serve as Co-CIO with my husband, investing in venture funds and seed-to-growth equity companies, with a focus on Blockchain, Enterprise SaaS, and Artificial Intelligence.

Previously, I was a Director and Senior Distribution Banker at Merrill Lynch’s Private Equity Funds Group within the Investment Banking Division. Earlier, I worked alongside the original eight founders of BlackRock to distribute their very first closed-end bond fund, before joining full time to build the brand, diversify its clientele, and raise over $9 billion in new assets under management, propelling the firm to IPO.

At Goldman Sachs, I worked as a Derivatives Sales Trader in London and New York, responsible for creating and marketing commodity and foreign currency linked products. I began my career at Merrill Lynch in the Private Resources Group, where I structured private placements, led the firm’s Entrepreneur of the Year sponsorship strategy, built relationships with emerging blue-chip companies, and took them public. Later, I became one of the first women to join Merrill’s Client Strategies Group on the Fixed Income Trading Floor.

I hold an MBA from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth and a Bachelor of Science from St. Peter’s College, where I graduated Valedictorian, summa cum laude in cursu honorum, with a double major in Accounting and Marketing and a minor in Economics.

In addition to overseeing my family foundation, which focuses on education and healthcare, I serve on several boards, speak frequently at family office gatherings, am an associate of The Milken Foundation/Faster Cures, a fellow of The Aspen Institute, and an early supporter of both The Robin Hood Foundation and TED.

While I am a Series 7, 24, 63, and 82 registered representative with Weild & Co., Member FDIC/SIPC, I am currently acting as Partner & COO for Hutt Capital, not as a registered person.

I also enjoy hosting and participating in podcasts where I discuss the intersection of technology, venture investing, and the future of finance. Podcasts are one of my favorite mediums to share ideas and knowledge.

I live in North Palm Beach, FL with my husband, Chauncey.
